Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 58.8%
An 11-year-old Ben Nevis Highland single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2024 by Douglas Laing as part of their The Vault single cask collection.
This particular release was selected exclusively for Y's Cask in Tokyo, Japan, a specialist whisky retailer known for its exclusive single cask bottlings. Matured in a refill hogshead, cask number 18185, the whisky was bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.8% ABV, with a limited outturn of just 261 bottles.
Ben Nevis is renowned for producing a distinctive, full-bodied Highland spirit, often displaying a combination of rich malt, orchard fruits, waxy textures and subtle mineral notes. The use of a refill hogshead allows the distillery's robust character to remain at the forefront, with the oak providing a more restrained influence than a first-fill cask.
An interesting Japanese market exclusive from Douglas Laing, offering an opportunity to explore Ben Nevis through a single cask expression bottled at high strength.
Please Note: This bottle is a part of a large batch of bin-ends we recently picked up at a great price, enabling us to pass on savings to our customers. However, only one or two bottles of each product were included in the parcel - so when they’re gone they’re gone! Please note that due to the size and nature of this batch of stock, some labels and boxes may show signs of wear.

For a blended whisky it has character and flavour which can be unusual for a blended. The peatiness is both in the nosing and the drinking. Smooth taste and almost comparable to a single malt.
Plenty of Islay peat married with rich sherry cask influence. It needs a little water at 100 proof but the whisky takes it well. It’s delightful, a Signatory Vintage Caol Ila, what’s not to love. It’s a real belter!
I'm a big fan of Signatory and seeing this bottling at this price it had to be a buy, M meaning Macallan. I enjoy the Macallan 18YO and this is far from the same. While a great whisky is has a hard finish for my pallet, thus needing ice or water. I can normally drink high ABV neat but this one I cannot. It is a good whisky, great flavour and dept. A few sips and I can't remember the rest. At £84.00 is it worth buying but don't believe the hype!
