This is Batch 3 of Spirit of Yorkshire distillery's splendid Filey Bay Peated Finish English single malt whisky, which was bottled in 2023 at 46% without colouring or chill filtration.
Filey Bay Peated Finish made its debut in 2021; the subsequent Batch 2 picked up a Master Award, the top gong at the World Whisky Masters, and this Batch 3 continues in the same vein, with an initial maturation in ex-bourbon casks followed by a finishing period in casks that previously held peated whisky. This gives the distillery's bright, fresh spirit a deliciously gentle smoky edge and makes Filey Bay Peated Finish one of the most sought after English single malts in the distillery's range. A treat for phenol fans.
Since my daughter lives in Yorkshire I had to try this especially when I saw the peat finish. Its a promising young whisky but I would have preferred a more definite peat finish similar to the one on offer from the Glasgow Distilliery
