This superlative 40-year-old Port Ellen 1979 matured in a refill sherry puncheon cask #7236 yielding a generous 407 bottles at its impressive natural cask strength of 54.7% and is presented in a very smart wooden box. Only a handful of Port Ellens have ever been bottled at this epic age, and of course you know you're in safe hands with G&M - this will be magnificent.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich aromas of sun-ripened red apple with delicate sweet spice. Notes of strawberry liquorice with tangy citrus elements give way to subtle smoked kipper notes.

Palate: Intense; mouth-watering crushed black pepper is followed by flavours of baked apple. Traces of fresh orange entwine with mature oak. A slight herbal edge develops.

Finish: Long and sweet with whisps of peat smoke.
