An ancient Linkwood 1973, bottled as a 47-year-old by Gordon & MacPhail in 2020 for their Private Collection series. Linkwood's spirit is absolutely top quality, perfect for long maturation, and it's also very versatile, ageing well over long periods in both bourbon and sherry casks.

This particular Private Collection Linkwood 1973 was bottled from refill sherry wood - just 188 bottles were yielded at a great drinking strength of 51.4%, which should lift the vanilla, chocolate and cooked fruit flavours very nicely - this will be an absolute showstopper.

Nose: Rich vanilla aromas complement sweet treacle and Medjool dates. Milk chocolate notes develop alongside festive spice.

Palate: Smooth and creamy flavours of stewed apples lead to soft citrus zest. Subtle cracked black pepper gives way to sultanas and toasted almonds.

Finish: A long and full finish with lingering spice and mature oak.
