Description

Blended Scotch Whisky 70 proof

A lovely old bottle of Haig Dimple most likely bottled in the 1950s. These earlier Dimple blends are usually spectacular whiskies - always pretty oily and waxy, and often quite peaty - and are getting increasingly hard to find. The springcap versions like this bottle are always in high demand.

Tasting these delicious old drams from a lifetime ago is a great way to fully understand and appreciate what whisky-making and consumption was like in the pre-modernisation era. The John Haig and Dimple blends were No.1-selling brands for a spell in postwar UK, so these old bottles really are time capsules offering an illuminating view into this country's whisky-drinking past.

Of course, we can't be sure how much of the character in these whiskies today has come from bottle ageing, and naturally there's a lot of variation between one bottle and another after decades - but what's certain is that the best blended whiskies like Haig's Dimple were the super-premium products of their day and had a much greater malt content than today's whiskies.
