Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: The Alistair Walker Whisky Company 70cl / 55.7%
A single cask of Bunnahabhain's peated single malt whisky, known as Staoisha, distilled in 2013 and bottled as a 9-year-old in 2023 by Alistair Walker for their Infrequent Flyers series.
This Infrequent Flyers 9-year-old Staoisha 2013 was finished in a puncheon cask 800076 that was previously home to Pedro Ximenez sherry and yielded 691 bottles at a poky 55.7%. An offbeat take on the classic smoke-and-sherry combo, this sherry-finished peated Bunnahabhain is probably not going to be the most subtle dram you taste this year, but it could well be one of the most memorable.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Colour: Mahogany.
Nose: Exotic spices mingle with peat, sweet tobacco and a touch of sea salt.
Palate: Very interesting dram. The Islay peat and phenols are there, but they are very well balanced, combining seamlessly with dark toffee, salted caramel, Demerara sugar and dry roasted peanuts. A spicy, peppery note emerges towards the end.

An exciting deep rich brown coloured liquid.
A compote of fruit together with dried grapes is lovely on the tongue.
Nicely sweetened syrup is evident too.
Invested in two bottles but will be ordering a third.
Great warming malt enjoyed by two. (One aka Pig)
I know I bought a cask strength whisky but was expecting a nice taste but the strength overpowered the flavor, I found it harsh, but I am not a whiskey conasur. I also bought the secret Orkney signatory cask strength and that was very nice.
