Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers 70cl / 47.5%
Mortlach's marvellous distillate has so much character that it's one of the best single malts to try young, as long as the cask has had enough time to round out the spirit's more boisterous edges.
This small batch 12-year-old Mortlach 2009 from Morrison Distillers should be a case in point, bottled in late 2021 at 47.5% for the company's Carn Mor Strictly Limited series, and it has the significant added advantage of being finished in Oloroso sherry casks, meaning we can expect an extra layer of sweet complexity. This really should be a splendid dram.
