Bottled in 2009 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Douglas Laing & Co., this Laphroaig was selected as one of a small number of commemorative single casks released under the revered Old Malt Cask label. Distilled in 1988 and matured for 21 years, it was bottled at its natural cask strength of 52.1% without chill filtration or added colouring.

Finished in a refill sherry hogshead, this single cask yielded just 214 bottles. The additional sherry maturation adds layers of dried fruits, dark chocolate and warming spice to Laphroaig's unmistakable medicinal peat smoke, maritime character and oily complexity. The result is a beautifully balanced Islay malt, combining the distillery's powerful coastal style with the richness and depth imparted by long maturation and careful cask selection.

Released as part of Douglas Laing's 60th Anniversary celebrations, this bottling is both an outstanding drinking whisky and a highly collectible example of an increasingly sought-after era of independent Laphroaig bottlings.
