Bottled in 1998, this was the follow up to the previous year's 1972. 1974 Clynelishs are pretty thin on the ground but this one reveals it to be quite similar in style to the 72s. Another excellent but very potent and muscular old Highlander. This one needs time and a bit of water but with patience you'll be rewarded with a stunning whisky.
This one is oilier, more austere, a little more vinous and greener than the 72s. Lots of white flowers, minerals, oils, boiler sheds, coal and wax, typically old highland style and quite excessive. Not the easiest of drams but a spectacular and quite brilliant whisky. Obscure and well worth trying.
