Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled By North Star Spirits 70cl / 49.5%
Distilled at Caol Ila in May 2011 and matured for 15 years before being bottled in July 2026 by independent bottler North Star Spirits as part of Series 28, released as part of their 10th anniversary celebrations.
This Islay single malt was matured in a refill hogshead and bottled at 49.5% ABV without chill filtration or added colour. The release was limited to just 300 bottles.
Caol Ila's tall stills and relatively long, downward-sloping lyne arms help produce a lighter style of peated spirit than is typically associated with many of its Islay neighbours. This characteristic often allows the distillery's smoke to sit alongside fresher citrus and coastal notes rather than dominating the spirit.
North Star Spirits' tasting notes describe coastal salt and burnt seaweed on a peat-smoked bonfire on the nose, followed by sweet peat and plenty of burnt citrus on the palate, with burnt orange rind and caster sugar on the finish.
