Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 49.5.%
A 40-year-old Caol Ila 1982 bottled in 2022 by Gordon & MacPhail for their prestige Private Collection series, a rare honour for any of the Elgin legends' casks and one for which only the very finest fancy wooden boxes will suffice.
This 1982 Caol Ila 40-year-old definitely seems worth the fuss, though - it's been bottled from a single refill American hogshead that yielded just 121 bottles at its tantalising cask strength of 49.5%. For anyone who loves long-aged 'natural' refill cask Islay single malt whisky, this Private Collection 40-year-old Caol Ila from G&M is going to be one of the best drams of the year.
Please note that this Caol Ila 1982 Private Collection is Strictly Maximum 1 Bottle Per Customer and not eligible for any discounts.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Golden.
Nose: Fragrant tropical pine, apple and mango notes combine with spiced pear. Sweet Seville orange notes give way to subtle vanilla and rich smoke.
Palate: Cured meat flavours lead to citrus zest and a hint of walnut. Dried apricot comes to the fore alongside aniseed and black pepper.
Finish: Full and long finish with lingering honeydew melon and bonfire embers.
