Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Direct Wines Ltd 70cl / 46%
Distilled on 31st October 1979, this 25-year-old Bunnahabhain was bottled by the highly regarded independent bottler Direct Wines for their First Cask series. Bottled at 46% ABV, it comes from single cask #11893.
Unlike many Islay malts, Bunnahabhain is renowned for its elegant, lightly peated house style, allowing its naturally fruity and maritime character to shine. Long maturation has added further complexity, developing notes of honey, orchard fruits, toasted nuts, gentle oak spice and a subtle coastal salinity.
The First Cask series has become increasingly sought after by collectors, offering single cask bottlings from Scotland's finest distilleries with minimal intervention. Mature examples of Bunnahabhain from the late 1970s are particularly desirable, showcasing the rich, old-style character for which the distillery has become famous.

I really shouldn't share how good this whisky is as I don't want it to sell out. One of the few non sherried releases in this series and therefore quite different from most I have tried before. Absolutely delicious whisky.
