Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 55.0%
A single cask Benrinnes 1978 44-year-old bottled in 2022 at full cask strength without colouring or chill filtration by Gordon & MacPhail for their top-of-the-range Private Collection series.
This Private Collection 44-year-old Benrinnes 1978 came from single cask 1637, a refill American hogshead that yielded 106 bottles at a very sturdy 55%. Benrinnes is more familiar from sherry casks - this refill hoggie will be a treat for anyone looking to learn more about Benrinnes' famously gutsy distillate.

An exciting deep rich brown coloured liquid.
A compote of fruit together with dried grapes is lovely on the tongue.
Nicely sweetened syrup is evident too.
Invested in two bottles but will be ordering a third.
Great warming malt enjoyed by two. (One aka Pig)
I know I bought a cask strength whisky but was expecting a nice taste but the strength overpowered the flavor, I found it harsh, but I am not a whiskey conasur. I also bought the secret Orkney signatory cask strength and that was very nice.
