A single cask Banff 1978 18-year-old Highland single malt whisky released by independent bottlers Signatory Vintage in 1997 as part of their famous Silent Stills series, which has remained hugely popular with whisky collectors, not only because the whiskies were all from closed distilleries, but also because each bottle came with a mini of the same whisky and a decorative bung made from the original cask.

This 18-year-old Banff was bottled by Signatory without colouring or chill filtration from single cask 4618 and was one of just 260 bottles at a phenomenal natural cask strength of 58.8%. Banff is one of the more obscure closed distilleries and new bottlings have slowed to a trickle as even the youngest casks are well over 40 years old - this relatively younger example is one of the finest examples of Banff's old school Highland whisky style.
