Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 50.4%
Distilled at Balblair in 1996 and matured for 28 years before being bottled in 2024 by Gordon & MacPhail for their Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength range.
This single cask Highland whisky was matured in a refill Bourbon barrel, cask number 413, and bottled on 13th August 2024 at a natural cask strength of 50.4% ABV. The cask yielded just 127 bottles and was bottled without chill filtration and with natural colour.
Balblair is one of the oldest working distilleries in the Scottish Highlands, founded in 1790 near the village of Edderton. The distillery is known for its fruit-forward spirit, which can develop considerable complexity with extended maturation.
Gordon & MacPhail's tasting notes describe vanilla pod, green apple and lime peel aromas, followed by orange zest, sweet honey and subtle milk chocolate, with citrus and pepper on the finish.
