Smoky Highlander Ardmore is a distillery whose popularity has grown in the last decade or so thanks to the rise in popularity of peated whisky. Traditionally associated with the Teacher's blended Scotch brand, thankfully more official and independent bottlings of Ardmore have emerged to meet demand in recent times and its status as a single malt worth seeking out has been secured.
One of the tricks to make Ardmore still smokier is to age it in casks that have previously held whisky from sister distillery Laphroaig, as is the case for this Signatory vatting of two 10 year old bourbon barrels from the 2009 vintage bottled in 2020 at 46% for Signatory's Un-Chillfiltered Collection.
