Michter's Toasted Barrel Sour Mash is a special edition Small Batch Kentucky sour mash whiskey made with Michter's award-winning US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey, which because of the makeup of its grain recipe cannot be called a rye or bourbon whiskey, having less than 51% of both corn and rye.
For Michter's Toasted Barrel Sour Mash, the standard US*1 Sour Mash whiskey is reracked after its standard initial maturation into very special casks that have been toasted but not charred. The resulting double-matured whiskey is then bottled at 43% and is a must-try for American whiskey fans.
