Glenfiddich The Original

Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 40%

A limited edition Glenfiddich created as a recreation of the distillery’s landmark 1963 Straight Malt, the whisky that Glenfiddich began actively marketing internationally and which played an important role in establishing single malt Scotch as a distinct global category.

Released in 2014, The Original was recreated by Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman, who worked from an original 1963 sample together with the distillery’s historic recipe records. The resulting whisky was designed to reproduce the fresh, fruity character of the original, including the influence of European oak sherry butts typical of Glenfiddich production at the time.

Bottled at 40% ABV, this is an interesting modern recreation of one of the most significant early Glenfiddich releases, offering a glimpse of the style that helped introduce single malt Scotch whisky to a much wider international audience.
