That Boutique-y Whisky Company are really diversifying their offering these days with their Spring 2021 Australia Series releases. Thankfully their labels have retained TBWC's famous no-nonsense restraint.
Seriously though, TBWC's labels are perfect for Australian whisky's rich, bold style. This Boutique-y Black Gate 3-year-old hails from a New South Wales distillery whose annual whisky output is just 3000 litres. Black Gate practice what they call 'aggressive spirit maturation', using wine and sherry casks in a hot climate to produce young whiskies bursting with flavour.
Bottled at 46%, this Black Gate cask yielded 254 of TBWC's individually-numbered 50cl bottles.

Nose: An old, dusty Cognac. Ruby red grapes, dark sugars and burnt caramel.
Palate: Big, rich and oily. Burnt caramel carries through.
