A single cask Ten Cane 2012 10-year-old Trinidad rum bottled at full cask strength by Berry Bros & Rudd for their Summer 2022 releases. Ten Cane 2012 Cask 72 yielded 189 bottles at its cask strength of 57.7%.

Ten Cane was a very short-lived Trinidad rum distillery, so this single cask 10-year-old from Berry's will be a must for rum fans. The original Ten Cane rum brand was launched in 2005 by LVMH and was distinguished by the fact that the distillery used copper pot stills to distil first press sugar cane juice in the agricole style - extremely unusual, if not unique, for a Trinidad rum.

Later incarnations of LVMH's Ten Cane included some molasses rum from Angostura, but despite a hefty marketing spend the brand never reached sales expectations. Ten Cane Rum distillery was closed around 2013, less than a decade after it opened, and the Ten Cane brand was discontinued in 2015.

Nose: Enticing aromas of caramelised bananas, brown sugar, treacle scones and tobacco leaf drift out the glass - an incredibly gentle spirit even at full strength.

Palate: The palate is light textured yet full of warm notes of warm treacle, cream soda, new leather and burnt sugar.

Finish: Soft brown sugar notes lingering pleasingly. This is exceptionally relaxed - a light yet flavourful and complex rum.

“Immediately inviting the attractive side of linseed oil mixed with apple tarts and raisin biscuit. This Trinidad rum is nutty with syrupy fruit notes and plenty of stewed apples. A learned complex, complete with elegant character, is revealed. It’s well balanced and rewarding and with some water it really shines.”
