A bottle of the small batch Glenallachie 16-year-old 50th Anniversary Past Edition.  This was the first release in the Billy Walker 50th Anniversary trilogy, which celebrated the Glenallachie head honcho's half-century in the whisky business, and was one of 2022's most sought-after drams.

The Glenallachie Billy Walker 50th Anniversary Trilogy features three different whiskies each representing one of Mr Walker's career specialisms: Sherry maturation, cask management and distillation. 

This Glenallachie 16-year-old is the Past Edition, focused on sherry maturation and assembled from 2005 vintage Glenallachie fully matured in nine Spanish sherry casks and bottled without colouring or chill filtration at cask strength of 57.1%, equivalent to 100 proof in the old Imperial measuring system.

Colour: Deep Mahogany.

Nose: Waves of walnuts, heather honey and subtle dried fruits, followed by bursts of toasted coffee, orange peel and cinnamon sticks.

Palate: Lashings of fig syrup, caramelised muscovado sugar and roasted pine nuts with notes of heather honey, crystalised ginger and dried apricots.
