A single cask Mortlach 1989 33-year-old Speyside single malt whisky bottled without colouring or chill filtration by independent bottlers Adelphi as part of a special run of releases in their Adelphi Limited series released in 2023 to celebrate the company's 30th anniversary.
This 33-year-old Mortlach 1989 came from single cask 6663, a refill bourbon hogshead and was one of 214 bottles at a natural cask strength of 48%. Mortlach is more usually found maturing in sherry casks, so it’s great to see a long-aged refill bourbon cask like this that allows the distillery’ complex, muscular spirit to show more of its natural fruity, meaty character over a long maturation.

Great value bottle from Signatory - full of rich Madeira notes and slight edgy funk of the distillate come together beautifully! Takes water very well.
It’s a good flavour similar to the secret appetite (M) but with even more flavour. You have to add a bit of water to get it to 50% and the flavour is released in full.
