Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 40%
A 1965 Glenlochy single malt whisky bottled in 2002 by Gordon & MacPhail for their Rare Old series, making the whisky 36 or 37 years old. Glenlochy was another victim of Diageo forerunner SMD's ruthless distillery cull, closing in 1983 and later demolished.
Glenlochy was a workhorse distillery in the Western Highlands and was never officially bottled during its lifetime, although several excellent Rare Malts editions appeared in the 1990s and indie bottlings of early vintages are generally superb. This 1965 Glenlochy from Gordon & MacPhail shows delicious honeyed fruit and patisserie notes on a bed of polished oak.
