Description

Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Chorlton Whisky 70cl / 42.4%

Here's something you don't see every day - a long-aged Tormore. Chorlton Whisky have bottled a 28-year-old Tormore 1992 from a single refill hogshead, which yielded 253 bottles at a natural strength of 42.4%.

The great thing about naturally low cask strength malts is that they're easy-drinking and packed with flavour, meaning that they always taste better than whiskies that have been diluted. This Tormore 1992 28-year-old should be delightful stuff.

Tasting Notes

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: On pouring the nose is full of red apples, orange drops, lemon & grapefruit syrup, plus touches of wax and petrolly Riesling. After a moment you start to get buttery pastry and marmalade, mixed tropical fruit juice, banana chips and some mineralic and foresty "stuff" (chalk, flint, ferns, rainwater).

Palate:
The palate is sweet, lightly syrupy and waxy, and extremely fruity up front. Then you start to get the feeling of a very agreeable afternoon tea (lemon tea, cream horns, garibaldi biscuits, berry jams), combined with blood oranges and a touch of grassy menthol.

Finish:
The finish is very clean and full of mandarins.

Conclusion: A lovely summery drop, this, with the long maturation adding some nice complexity to the cavalcade of fruit. The low-ish strength makes this an easy drinker, but it still feels lively and zingy.
