A UK Exclusive single cask Ledaig 2001 20-year-old Island single malt whisky bottled in 2022 by Gordon & MacPhail for their Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength series.
This 20-year-old Ledaig 2001 matured in what looks to have been a refill sherry butt with plenty left in the tank, judging by the colour. A total of 498 bottles were yielded from the cask at an impressive 58.4% and with G&M's provenance and Ledaig's popularity this was a particularly highly sought-after bottling.

Palate: Stewed red fruit flavours lead to cocoa powder and orange zest.
Finish: Full spicy finish with smoke, aniseed and toffee.

If you like your Whisky matured in a sherry cask then you will not be disappointed with this one, the flavours transferred from the Oloroso butts are unmistakably sherry, with a mixture of fruitiness coming through once you’ve added a slug of water, in my opinion at this cask strength you need need a good measure of H2O to really appreciate this very fine reasonably priced Whisky.
Definitely would buy again !
