Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers 70cl / 47.5%
The previously almost unknown Ruadh Maor is a name that has begun cropping up with a welcome increasing frequency of late, given that it's the moniker given to peated single malt whisky from Glenturret distillery, formerly the home of Famous Grouse under previous owners Edrington.
We don't know much about Ruadh Maor other than it was apparently first made in 2009 for the not-particularly-successful Black Grouse, and that it's supposedly rather heavily-peated (80-120ppm).
Anyway, our buyer Tim R is a big fan and has always got his beady eye out for Ruadh Maor, so he was delighted with this Carn Mor Strictly Limited edition - an 8-year-old from the 2012 vintage bottled from refill sherry hogsheads (yummy) at a heart-warming 47.5%. Timmy R has high hopes for this one, and it looks very reasonably priced.
