Mannochmore is one of the handful of large Speyside single malt whisky distilleries constructed in the early seventies. This was a period of rapid expansion for the industry based on wildly inaccurate market calculations for the ensuing decade, a catastrophic misstep that led directly to the closure of many smaller, much more charismatic distilleries.

Mannochmore's Speyside single malt whisky is a reserved and intriguing one. The distillery's spirit has always been produced in a modern style, and the character of Mannochmore's malt tends towards a controlled, grassy and somewhat austere profile. 

Mannochmore's malt has long been popular with the blenders, and its lean, taut profile provides structure and backbone to many blended whisky recipes. In recent years Mannochmore's whisky has been widely available from the indie bottlers, and it's always worth trying. Full-bodied, grassy and occasionally slightly phenolic, Mannochmore is not always the easiest of whiskies but it offers consistent quality and is always a great value option for Speyside whisky fans.
