Linkwood Madeira Finish is part of the inaugural release of Murray McDavid's Cask Craft series in late 2022, one of six whiskies finished in different wine and spirits casks to showcase the indie bottler's artistry in cask finishing.
Cask Craft Linkwood single malt has been bottled at a very drinkable 44.5% and was finished by Murray McDavid in a barrique cask that previously held the fortified wine Madeira, which gives rich, sweet dried fruit notes to Linkwood's light, but well-structured spirit and, like the rest of the Cask Craft range, this looks extremely reasonably priced.

Combining a classic malt with an exotic wine cask has produced alluring aromas of red currants, honied cereal and milk chocolate which flow onto the palate, leaving a long warming finish with flavours of sweet oak spice.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
