A small batch Linkwood from Berry Bros & Rudd, this is composed of three refill hogsheads from the 2009 vintage, bottled together as an 11-year-old in 2021, yielding a lucky-for-some 888 bottles at 46% in their impressively stylish new packaging.
From the looks of the delightfully dark golden (natural) colour of this 2009 Linkwood, Berry Bros have found some particularly active refill hogsheads from this splendid distillery. This 11-year-old Linkwood looks like excellent value for Speyside fans.

Linkwood is generally archetypal of the lighter side of Speyside, and this refill hogshead is no exception.
Nose: The nose is incredibly gentle, offering aromas of peach, banana and melon with a little toasted oak from the cask.
Palate: This subtle theme continues on the palate, with notes of fresh fruit salad and a slight citrusy tanginess creating a wonderful interplay with the beautifully delicate texture.
Finish: A whiff of smoke is glimpsed on the finish before waves of baking spice and oak roll in.

“Legalised along with a few others shortly after the 1823 Excise Act I imagine then owners Mr. Smith of Glenlivet and Mr. Cumming of Cardhu had to be on their guard from those who considered them traitors. In the 1970’s, the original distillery was replaced by a new one and the old was used for experiments.”
To be just 11yo whisky, this one has a really nice mouthfeel. Sherried sweetness with rich flavour. Would definitely buy this again. Just finished the bottle and couldn't be happier to have had this one in my collection.

Admittedly, I haven't tried every whisky in the world. I like the Laphroaig, peaty and uncompromising end of the single malt scale. This is my current favourite. A brutal and beautiful drink. Harsh and refined; sour and sweet. Dangerously tasty. A real find for me, this one.
I acquired mine after someone had poured it away, and used the empty as a candle holder. Despite imbibing this Glenrothes from a drain, it was decent. 57.1% seemed to remove any of the drain ickiness. It has also somewhat dulled the pain I'm still in from recently trapping my, ahem, in my zipper.
