A festive single cask Benrinnes 2011 12-year-old Speyside single malt whisky, bottled by Douglas Laing in 2023 for their characterful Premier Barrel range.
Distilled at Benrinnes in 2011 and matured for 12 years, this single cask yielded 617 bottles at 46%, bottled without colouring or chill filtration. The Premier Barrel series is instantly recognisable for its distinctive ceramic decanters, with this Christmas 2023 edition sporting a suitably seasonal label.
Benrinnes is traditionally known for a weighty, characterful spirit, historically shaped by the distillery's unusual partial triple-distillation regime. Its robust, often meaty and fruity character has long made it an important component for blending, while independent bottlings such as this provide a welcome opportunity to try Benrinnes as a single malt.
Please Note: This bottle is a part of a large batch of bin-ends we recently picked up at a great price, enabling us to pass on savings to our customers. However, only one or two bottles of each product were included in the parcel - so when they’re gone they’re gone! Please note that due to the size and nature of this batch of stock, some labels and boxes may show signs of wear.

Aroma has subtle hints of sherry, vanilla and smoke. This is a dark, smooth and oily whisky - I noticed flavours of dark chocolate, tar, peat and salt. The real character comes through in the aftertaste - lingering peat and salt. Unmistakably Islay, and superb!
Bunnahabhain is my favourite range of unpeated whisky, there are many choices. My initial taste was a little disappointing but the high strength 8 year old whisky gave another choice. I would buy again on reflection.
