Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 41.6%
A superb old Tormore 1992, matured for 30 years and bottled by Douglas Laing in March 2023 for their premium Xtra Old Particular (XOP) series.
Distilled in November 1992, this Tormore spent three decades maturing in a single refill hogshead, Cask DL17247, before being bottled at its natural cask strength of 41.6%. The cask yielded just 276 hand-filled bottles, released without colouring or chill filtration.
Tormore was established in the late 1950s and began distilling in 1960, making it one of Speyside's younger distilleries. Long associated with the blends of its former owner Allied Domecq and later Pernod Ricard, Tormore has historically been relatively uncommon as a distillery-bottled single malt, leaving independent releases such as this as an excellent way to explore its character.
Douglas Laing's tasting notes describe an attractively rounded nose with buttered burnt toast and milky cereal, followed by a palate of butterscotch, malt, apple and lemon citrus, with malt lingering on the finish alongside bourbon-cask vanilla.
A particularly well-aged single-cask Tormore from the early 1990s, bottled at 30 years old for Douglas Laing's flagship XOP range.
Please Note: This bottle is a part of a large batch of bin-ends we recently picked up at a great price, enabling us to pass on savings to our customers. However, only one or two bottles of each product were included in the parcel - so when they’re gone they’re gone! Please note that due to the size and nature of this batch of stock, some labels and boxes may show signs of wear.

Aroma has subtle hints of sherry, vanilla and smoke. This is a dark, smooth and oily whisky - I noticed flavours of dark chocolate, tar, peat and salt. The real character comes through in the aftertaste - lingering peat and salt. Unmistakably Islay, and superb!
Bunnahabhain is my favourite range of unpeated whisky, there are many choices. My initial taste was a little disappointing but the high strength 8 year old whisky gave another choice. I would buy again on reflection.
