Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 50%
A single cask Glenglassaugh 1978 bottled as a 27-year-old without colouring or chill filtration back in 2005 by Douglas Laing for their Old Malt Cask range. Interestingly, this Glenglassaugh was classified by Douglas Laing as a Speyside; since the 2009 Scotch Whisky Regulations was passed, Glenglassaugh has been officially considered a Highland whisky, one of the only things that particular SWA botch job got right.
This 27-year-old Glenglassaugh 1978 came from a single refill hogshead cask #1994 that yielded 213 bottles at the Old Malt Cask standard strength of 50%. Glenglassaugh is a top-notch old school distillery that is only just starting to get the recognition it deserves - this Old Malt Cask edition from the golden age of indie bottlers should be a classic.

Great value bottle from Signatory - full of rich Madeira notes and slight edgy funk of the distillate come together beautifully! Takes water very well.
It’s a good flavour similar to the secret appetite (M) but with even more flavour. You have to add a bit of water to get it to 50% and the flavour is released in full.
