Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 46%
A fascinating bottle of 10-year-old Ben Nevis 1996 from a refill sherry butt cask bottled without colouring or chill filtration in 2007 at 46%, and this one has a curious story to tell.
This Ben Nevis 1996 was one of a pair of Forgotten Bottlings from Ben Nevis Distillery. The casks were among several selected for release, but after they were bottled and returned to the distillery the stock was mislaid and forgotten about, only being discovered in a warehouse over six years later. The two casks were finally released in 2014. This refill butt edition yielded 700 bottles at 46% and is a fine, complex dram now showing the benefits of extended bottle ageing.

Great value bottle from Signatory - full of rich Madeira notes and slight edgy funk of the distillate come together beautifully! Takes water very well.
It’s a good flavour similar to the secret appetite (M) but with even more flavour. You have to add a bit of water to get it to 50% and the flavour is released in full.
