Laphroaig is probably one of the most famous whisky distilleries in the world, and its smoky malt whisky's dominant position as Islay's best-selling single malt is well established. 

Laphroaig's long-running classic “Love It Or Loathe It” marketing slogan was an apt one: many people are entranced from their first sip of Laphroaig 10-year-old, while others cannot understand the attraction to drinking a peated Islay single malt whisky that tastes very like medicine. There are few certainties in the whisky world, but it seems very likely that Laphroaig will always remain an acquired taste.
