Douglas Laing see to have tapped into a gold mine of mid-aged Laphroaigs in the last couple of years. They are usually stunning and this 1989 looks decidedly mouthwatering.
Laphroaig really starts to shine about this age. It's when all those fruity pre-cursors from distillation and fermentation start to really come through in the spirit. Medicinal, powerful, oily, complex and filled with great coastal/earthy/fruit combinations. If you haven't tried this style of Laphroaig then you're missing out big time.
