Lagg

Construction of the Lagg distillery began in the south of Arran island in 2017, with the first spirit running off the stills of the new distillery in March 2019. Lagg was built to supply peated malt whisky for owners Isle of Arran Distillers, who also own sister distillery Lochranza (formerly known as Arran distillery). The Lagg distillery is equipped with one pair of pot stills and has a capacity of around 750,000 litres per annum.

The construction of Lagg distillery gives owners Isle of Arran Distillers a much greater capacity for producing peated single malt whisky, and allows the rechristened Lochranza distillery to concentrate fully on its excellent unpeated single malt.

The first batch of Lagg’s Inaugural single malt whisky was released in autumn 2022. Lagg’s standard single malt is made with heavily-peated barley at 50ppm, and there are rumours of a more heavily-peated spirit being made for future releases.
