You have to love the Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength range - sturdy bottles with plenty of heft and labels packed with info about exactly what you're getting into.
In this instance it's another surefire hit: a single cask 2004 Highland Park from a first fill sherry hogshead (number 14601303 for those interested) bottled at a good age, 16-year-old, and a very solid natural cask strength of 57%. Difficult to see what could go wrong here, the only downside is that there were only 318 bottles...

An exciting deep rich brown coloured liquid.
A compote of fruit together with dried grapes is lovely on the tongue.
Nicely sweetened syrup is evident too.
Invested in two bottles but will be ordering a third.

I know I bought a cask strength whisky but was expecting a nice taste but the strength overpowered the flavor, I found it harsh, but I am not a whiskey conasur. I also bought the secret Orkney signatory cask strength and that was very nice.
