Indian Single Malt Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 46%

The award-winning Indri Trini is our first Indian single malt whisky from the Indri distillery. Indri Trini Three Wood is matured in a mix of bourbon, sherry and French wine casks and bottled at 46% without colouring or chill filtration. This fulsomely-flavoured dram was crowned Best Indian Single Malt at the 2022 World Whisky Awards.

Indri distillery is located in the city of the same name in the foothills of the Himalayas north of New Delhi and is part of the Piccadily group, India's largest independent malt whisky distillers. Indri's single malt is created by Master Distiller & Blender Surrinder Kumar, formerly of Amrut, from traditional local six-row barley and is made with 100% renewable energy.

Indri distillery has existed since 1994, but it is only since 2010 that Piccadily began working towards a single malt whisky that met European standards, having previously made molasses and grain-based Indian whisky and spirits for the domestic market. The distillery has its own maltings and is relatively large, with a malt production capacity of around 4m litres pa.

Tasting Notes

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: Gentle and mellow on the nose. Hints of black tea, caramelized pineapple with a whiff of oak comes forward, followed by vanilla and honey from the bourbon oak and traces of spiced tannins from the European oak, finally topped up with vinous raisin and sweet sherry notes.

Palate:
Elegant richness, smooth and warm on the sides of the mouth. Gentle spice and wood characters come through, followed by nutty flavours and hints of burnt pineapple, citrus and raisins.

Finish:
A subtle and balanced finish, each flavour compliments one another without dominating.  A smooth and long after taste with sweet fruity flavours coming up from the warmth of the throat, lingering long after.
