Highland Park is one of those world-famous distilleries that has enjoyed immense popularity with both collectors and drinkers alike for many years now. It is often described as the great all-rounder malt, a nod to the fact that it seems to embody many different flavour styles, from fruity to peaty to coastal.

Highland Park is also one of the most romantic distilleries, being based as it is on the far-flung Isle of Orkney and the distillery's location, along with its full-flavoured style, has seduced countless drinkers through the decades. In recent times it has been criticised in some quarters for increased prices and slightly overblown marketing, though mercifully we seem to have seen the back of all the tired Viking stuff. Yet despite all this, Highland Park remains an important single malt whisky and an excellent distillery that continues to offer interesting, worthwhile releases.
