A splendid Glenury Royal 1972, bottled three decades later in 2002 by Gordon & MacPhail for their now discontinued Rare Old range.

Glenury Royal distillery, of course, has itself been discontinued for nearly four decades, having been closed in the great distillery cull of the mid-1980s by Diageo forerunners Allied Distillers. These early 1970s whiskies by Glenury Royal are tremendous, with an abundance of old school resinous, waxy, fruity, minerally notes in the grand Highland style.
