Glenglassaugh is an unfortunate distillery in some respects in that it has lain silent for decades on three separate occasions during its lifetime and has never been active for longer than the initial 30-odd years between its founding in the mid-1870s and first closure in 1907/8. However, you might equally argue that despite all the setbacks Glenglassaugh has been very fortunate to escape certain doom and, against all the odds, is thankfully in production again. 

Brought back from mothballs in 2008 by Scaent Group after twenty-two years of silence, Glenglassaugh was purchased by Billy Walker's Benriach Distillery Co. in 2013.
Walker sold Glenglassaugh to Brown Forman in 2016 along with his other distilleries Benriach and Glendronach, and in 2023 Glenglassaugh launched a small but highly-regarded new core range of Highland single malt whiskies.
