From Batch 3 of Glenallachie's Wood Finish Series, this 11-year-old Glenallachie Pedro Ximenez Wood Finish spent its first nine years of maturation in American oak barrels before a further two years of finishing in Pedro Ximenez sherry seasoned puncheons.
Bottled without colouring or chill-filtration at a great drinking strength of 48%, Glenallachie's Wood Finish releases are excellent value and won't last long.

Colour: Rich Mahogany.
Nose: Waves of dark chocolate, plantains and sultanas, with pineapple and nutmeg.
Palate: Dark chocolate, treacle and heather honey, fused with sultanas, pineapple, orange peel and cinnamon.

My usual preference is for a peaty whisky; however, the Aberargie Inaugural Single Malt 2026 was an enjoyable experience. I will definitely be trying more.
I’m not a great fan of Peated Whisky but this one is superb, gently Peated Sherry Hogshead doesn’t get better than this very smooth Whisky, a very pleasant surprise.
