Filey Bay 2016 STR Finish is an English single malt whisky from the splendid Spirit of Yorkshire distillery.
Distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2020 without colouring or chill filtration at a good drinking strength of 46%, Filey Bay STR Finish English whisky was initially matured in ex-bourbon casks before being finished in special Shaved, Toasted & Recharred (STR) Rioja red wine barrique casks, notably deepening the whisky's colour and adding notes of red berries and other floral fruitiness to the palate.

I acquired mine after someone had poured it away, and used the empty as a candle holder. Despite imbibing this Glenrothes from a drain, it was decent. 57.1% seemed to remove any of the drain ickiness. It has also somewhat dulled the pain I'm still in from recently trapping my, ahem, in my zipper.
Since my daughter lives in Yorkshire I had to try this especially when I saw the peat finish. Its a promising young whisky but I would have preferred a more definite peat finish similar to the one on offer from the Glasgow Distilliery
