Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Dram Mor 70cl / 58.7%
A cask strength 2012 Ruadh Maor (Glenturret's rare heavily-peated spirit) bottled by Dram Mor as a 10-year-old for their autumn 2022 outturn.
Glenturret is a tiny distillery, and Ruadh Maor makes up only a small fraction of the distillery's output, so this is a rare treat indeed - and just to make it even rarer, this single cask Ruadh Maor was matured in.... a refill white port hogshead! You really don't see too many of those around.
Dram Mor's Ruadh Maor 2012 10-year-old came from Cask 220, which yielded 308 bottles at a reassuringly hefty 58.7%, and we can't wait to try it.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Colour: Light Hay.
Nose: Peated rice pudding (No really!) Wood polish and old leather.
Palate: Wow! Waty more peat than the nose suggests but it is no one trick pony. Sweet toasted marshmallow charred over a peat fire with a serving of black, pepper crusted crowd and warm pancakes.
Finish: Not as long as you might imagine it would be. It is very prominent for a few seconds then someone turns the heat down. A great dram!
