Douglas Laing’s Premier Barrel range was introduced in 2008 as a distinctive series of limited-edition single cask Scotch whiskies from distilleries across Scotland. The range is immediately recognisable for its ceramic decanters, an unusual presentation inspired by traditional old-fashioned whisky flagons.

Premier Barrel has featured an impressive variety of distilleries over the years, with earlier releases including names such as Macallan, Laphroaig, Bowmore and Port Ellen alongside lesser-seen Highland and Speyside malts. Individual casks were generally bottled in small quantities, with some releases numbering only a few hundred decanters.

The range was relaunched with updated packaging in 2018 and today forms part of Douglas Laing’s Exceptional Single Casks collection alongside Provenance, Old Particular and Xtra Old Particular. Premier Barrel continues to combine characterful single cask whisky with its unmistakable ceramic presentation.
