Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 43%
Situated right on the Highland Line - the border between the Lowlands and the Highlands - Glengoyne's spirit is distilled in the Highlands and matured in warehouses across the road in the Lowlands.
This geographical quirk, by coincidence, is reflected in Glengoyne's deliciously gentle single malt whisky which tasted blind seems more akin to a soft Lowland malt than the more assertive Highland style.
This is attributed by Glengoyne to the fact that they run their stills extremely slowly, allowing the copper to remove much of the natural sulphur from the wash and encouraging the formation of fruity esters.
Glengoyne 12-year-old is matured in a mix of first fill sherry, first fill bourbon and refill oak casks. An ideal 'starter' single malt whisky, Glengoyne 12-year-old also has plenty of nuance for the connoisseurs.
