A 13-year-old Blair Athol by Darkness, the Atom Brands indie bottling offshoot that specialises in sherry finishes from tiny hand-coopered 'octave' casks.
This Blair Athol 13-year-old is one of a pair of releases from the distillery in Darkness's early 2023 outturn, and like its 15-year-old sister bottling it came from a micro batch of Oloroso sherry octaves. This 13-year-old is limited to just over 100 half litre (50cl) bottles at a great drinking strength of 51.4%.

An exciting deep rich brown coloured liquid.
A compote of fruit together with dried grapes is lovely on the tongue.
Nicely sweetened syrup is evident too.
Invested in two bottles but will be ordering a third.
Great warming malt enjoyed by two. (One aka Pig)
I know I bought a cask strength whisky but was expecting a nice taste but the strength overpowered the flavor, I found it harsh, but I am not a whiskey conasur. I also bought the secret Orkney signatory cask strength and that was very nice.
