This extraordinary Caol Ila 15-year-old was bottled at its outrageous natural strength of 63% in 1990 for Diageo forerunner Scottish Malt Distillers’ Staff Association, meaning that it would have been distilled in 1974 or 1975. It's entirely fitting with Caol Ila's reputation as Islay's most underrated distillery that what is probably the greatest example of its whisky ever bottled was never for sale to the public.
