Description

Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 43%

A 10-year-old Miltonduff whisky bottled at 43% by Gordon & MacPhail for their Discovery Range, which was created in 2018 to give an introduction to their portfolio. The range is coded by flavour/cask type - Bourbon, Sherry, and Smoky - with this Miltonduff 10-year-old's purple packaging indicating sherry cask maturation.

The other great thing about the Discovery range is the whiskies' extremely reasonable prices, ensuring accessibility for new whisky fans and making the whole range a bargain for both newcomers and experienced drammers looking for affordable high quality everyday whiskies.

Quite remarkable - both in taste and value

Who would have thought that a bottle of whisky, at this standard, could be produced for a retail price of under £50? From a taste experience per cost unit, this has to be one of the top bang-for-buck contenders. It is pure class-in-a-glass!

The whisky is a warm amber-gold colour, presumably from some or all of its 10 year maturation period having taken place in some of G&M's finest sherry casks. Nosing reveals a huge sherried fruit note, with mince pies and brandy-soaked christmas pudding mingled in. The palate is fruity, stewed raisins in a fairly oily dram with a good mouthfeel. The finish is initially huge, a warm explosion of sherried fruit that tapers off the tongue and warms the gullet. A brown sugar sweetness lingers in the mouth for several minutes. A great whisky for sitting by the fire in winter with.
