The Trijol house is one of the larger operations in Cognac, with no fewer than 22 small stills and, unusually, ownership of their own vineyards ensuring complete control over their production process.
Maxime Trijol is still family-owned and run, with Jean-Jacques Trijol and his daughters representing the fifth and sixth generation of the family at the helm.
Maxime Trijol's VSOP may not be quite as well known as the Big Four producers, but the quality is arguably better than more mainstream equivalents, particularly for the standard bottlings. The perfect starting point for any cognac fans wishing to try something other than the big name brands.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Golden yellow.
Nose & Palate: Fruity and floral on the nose and palate, with a long-lasting gaiety. The tannins from the oak have helped it to develop to the beginnings of maturity; a harmonious cognac.
To be enjoyed neat at 20 to 25°C (70° to 80°F), or on ice. Start with the nose to discover all the aromatic complexity resulting from the blending of different growths, before taking a comfortable sip to be rolled slowly around the palate before swallowing.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
